27th January 2008: Luton Vagrants 1-2
Vauxhall 2
This was an eagerly awaited local derby with former
Challney high school boys playing on both sides. The
fist half started with extremely good quick passing from
Vauxhall. Vauxhall were keeping the ball down the
stronger right hand side with Sajjad at right half
having a major influence in the game. After the opening
10 minutes a clever worked ball down the right again
orchestrated by Sajjad set the right wing free who
delivered d a pin point cross to the youngest player on
the pitch 15 year old Zahid Khan to cleverly flick the
ball over the keeper to make it his 2nd goal in 3 games.
This should have been the incentive for Vauxhall to
press on and get a 2nd but they squandered several
chances. The influential Sajjad was substituted injured
and gave Vagrants an opportunity to get back in to the
game which they took capitalising on a defensive lapse
which ended the first half.
The 2nd half started much like the first with Vauxhall
having the majority of the play passing the ball from 1
side of the pitch to the other. Vagrants again slowly
edged back in to the game and have several chances of
their own and could have taken the lead if it was not
for the centre back Arslan who was superb in defence.
With time ticking on the Vauxhall centre half cleverly
switching the play from the right to the left releasing
the left half who pushed on taking a clever 1 to pass
with the centre forward to neatly touch in the 2nd goal.
With time running out the Vagrant’s side had
another chance to level the game but a great save by
goalkeeper Yaqub Hanif and a strong defensive clearance
to keep the hard working and quick forwards of Vagrants
saw the game out at 2-1.
It was a great team performance with strong influence in
midfield great passing and movement from the entire side
by far the best team performance to follow up last weeks
emphatic 5-1 win over Broxbourne.
